General construction during day-to-day business
Ganter took on the renovation of two levels of the Oberpollinger department store in the heart of Munich. Steeped in tradition, the newly renovated store was fit with 6,000 m² of attractive sales floor. Today, the concept store “The Storey”, located in the building’s basement, successfully combines the aesthetic of a warehouse with that of a new luxury boutique. Furthermore, with the help of renowned British architect John Pawson, the home department on the fourth floor was also completely redesigned. The renovation work required 1,049 metres of brass and 2,720 m² of solid oak parquet and produced an incredible 865 tons of rubble. Because the old building had been damaged and additional fire safety measures needed to be taken, Ganter was faced with a unique challenge. Furthermore, day-to-day business could not be interrupted by construction, so it was crucial to precisely coordinate all subcontractors. Thanks to its perfect project management and years of experience, Ganter was able to adapt flexibly to all challenges that arose unexpectedly and coordinate up to 400 workers to complete the project within 30 weeks.
