To offer his discerning customers a new and even more attractive shopping experience, the Freiburg based NITTEL commissioned GANTER to modernize his long-established store in Kaiser-Joseph-Street No. 228. A detailed design planning was necessary to analyze the client’s needs and desires before the reconstruction. Jeweler Nittel is a third-generation family business and the primary goal of the current managing director, Stefan Nittel, was to present a competitive alternative to online-shops. The elegant ambience and the exclusive and unique presentation of the exquisite jewelry in the new store-design now sets the perfect framework for a personalized consultation for which NITTEL is well known for. In this particular case, GANTER was responsible for the draft as well as for the execution planning. As general contractor we supplied everything from one source: From consultation from a basic evaluation to preliminary and draft planning to detail engineering and implementation planning – from demolition to interior fit out and the fine tuning before the festive re-opening. After completing the planning phase and obtaining the relevant permits, we had to rebuild and renovate the two-storied space and the offices on the upper floor within in a tight timeframe of only 2,5 months. The major constructional challenge of this project was the removing of the suspended ceiling and the staircase, which were previously dominating the showroom.
We installed a new ceiling and a new staircase, laid floors and engineered and constructed new showcases, which present the exclusive jewelry now perfectly illuminated. The new store-design shines in dark oak-wood, champagne colored leather furniture and further concrete and powder-coated steel elements, which creates a contemporary look in the precious ambience.

Simultaneously to the renovation, German public TV station 'SWR' produced a broadcast on its program 'made in SÜDWEST' about the Ganter Group. Ina Held, the executive editor, tells in 30 minutes the history of our company and gives insights and a multifaceted glance of our daily business
Thanks to the filming permit of Stephan Nittel, the film team delivered a realistic glimpse behind the scenes during renovation. That is why the feature about the GANTER GROUP, shows rare insights in the challenging business of shop fitting. The before and after- documentation shows how a construction site can be turned into a perfect new store design within in a very short time.
