New superficiality – Michael Jotter visits the Kraftwerk

With imitation concrete and detailed surface design of different materials, Michael Jotter from Atelier Jotter in Stuttgart has accompanied and supported our project teams for more than 20 years. He has applied his expertise as a trained painter and self-proclaimed faker to numerous interior fit-out projects around the globe. These include clients with their shworooms and shops such as Acne Studios in New York, Mulberry in London, shops of Lynk & Co in Amsterdam and Antwerp.

Michael was and still is on the road with his team of creative craftsmen, plasterers, sculptors or painters on construction sites of the Ganter Group all over Germany. He already made his debut in the mid-1990s with our first shops for the fashion label Delmod. Later, he worked his way from floor to floor in the traditional Engelhorn fashion house in Mannheim, designed various types of walls on site and created eye-catchers for shopping enthusiasts in the main Breuninger store in Stuttgart. Fake to touch

We invited Michael to our headquarters in Waldkirch. The light-flooded hallway in the power plant put the many surface samples Michael brought from his Stuttgart studio in the perfect light. Light, space and proportions also play an important role in his unique pieces and can direct the focus.

It was an entertaining afternoon in which our colleagues from the project teams, but also from other departments, as well as our trainees, were able to see and touch the variety of imitation concrete, textile and other design options live and engage in expert discussion with Michael. We are excited to see what other projects Atelier Jotter and Ganter will realise together in the future.

'We are fakers! When our fakes are discovered, viewers and customers should be positively surprised by them, not disappointed.'
