Roche Diagnostics Innovation Center in Penzberg
With the construction of the six-story Diagnostics Innovation Center, Roche is realizing a forward-looking research and development facility for diagnostic testing at its Penzberg site. Around 800 researchers will benefit from a highly modern working environment that sets new standards for innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The building, with a gross floor area of approximately 35,500 m², combines office and laboratory spaces across seven full floors. A central architectural feature is the atrium, with connecting bridges that serve as communicative interfaces between the different functional areas. Ganter was responsible for the execution of key interior fit-out works and, in close coordination with the interior architecture firm Studio Alexander Fehre, delivered tailored solutions for the various usage zones. The scope of services included, among other elements, custom-made furniture, kitchens, tables, wall installations, and two distinctive seating staircases.
The installations extend across office areas, the atrium, bridges, and selected sections within the laboratory environment. Particularly high requirements were placed on the implementation of hygienic furniture in the laboratory areas: these were designed and executed as fully non-combustible, in compliance with strict technical and safety regulations.
Over the entire course of the project, a holistic interior fit-out concept was developed—one that combines functional precision with architectural ambition and meets the complex demands of a highly sensitive research environment.
