A small piece of the Black Forest in the city
Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus AG has created a small piece of the Black Forest in the Swabian state capital Stuttgart. For the “Rothaus im Gerber” in the homonymous mall in Stuttgart, the blocher partner interior designers presented a creative concept that ties in Rothaus’s roots and interprets them in a modern way. The Black Forest is rough, dark and mystical – but at the same time, it is also light, calm and friendly. The concept picks up on these contrasts and combines them with Black Forest living spaces and precise craftsmanship. Above the guest area, the open ceiling provides a view of a designed installation level. The black shingles were handmade and given a smoked look in several work steps. The rear wall of the Zäpfle-Bar counter perfectly sets the scene for the Rothaus beers with sophisticated mirror effects.
The centrepiece is a massive, dark-green-tiled stove, which was manufactured in the traditional way. As a central element in the room, it underlines the perfect atmosphere in the fine “sitting room” with its round bench and cosy cushions. Dinner is served at rustic wooden tables, while smaller snacks and drinks can also be enjoyed on stylish lounge chairs at wooden tables. A particular challenge for the Ganter team in interior fittings is perhaps most notably the three-dimensional wall cladding with shingles made of light-coloured spruce wood, which abstractly interprets the shape of fir cones in the lounge area. The contrast between dark and light is also reflected in the emotional lighting design, which Ganter implemented on the ceiling in the form of a winding curved copper tube with integrated LED lights. Optical highlight in the lounge area is the huge dark-brown cuckoo clock.
