Hearts on fire

“The World’s Most Perfectly Cut Diamond” – with this promise, Hearts on Fire trumpets the joy of timeless yet modern diamond jewellery throughout the world. Philadelphia is no exception: Ganter created a top-notch showroom over an area of 80 m2 using fine materials and the most cutting-edge technology. It goes without saying that the display cases for this type of jeweller must meet the highest standards. It’s less obvious, however, which sophisticated technical solutions Ganter needed to develop and build to do this. The display case systems installed at Hearts on Fire allow the merchandise to be displayed most effectively. And by using light barriers and extra-sensitive sensors, the jewellery can be handled via infrared remote control without it ever being touched. Like magic, the display cases are set in motion under the fascinated gaze of the customer. This silent, discrete opening and closing mechanism emphasises the diamonds’ high value. The challenge was to find a mechanical solution without changing the design or dimensions of the display case or compromising security. By using a long-lasting, low-maintenance electronic system, installing backup batteries in case of power outages and coding the remote controls, Ganter was able to meet the extremely high security standards.
Ganter developed a pipe system that makes it appear as if the 200 to 400 kg display cases are floating in the room. To support the weight of all of these display cases, Ganter placed a steel plate beneath screed and tiles and installed a steel system in the ceiling. However, this steel reinforcement required the location of the holes where the pipes would later be laid to be determined with millimetre precision while the structural work was still underway. To achieve this, comprehensive project management from the first planning phase was absolutely essential and the overall concept had to be planned in immense detail.
