Zeiss Vision Center Freiburg

A new Zeiss Vision Center was opened in downtown Freiburg after a construction period of only 4 months – from project presentation to opening. The creative concept was created by Elmar Gauggel, who not only provided the design for the Freiburg-based owners of Reuter Optik, but also developed the concept for all Zeiss Vision Centers as chief architect of Labor Weltenbau. Ganter has prepared the building application for this project according to the specifications of the monument conservation and subsequently took over the detailed planning.
In this context, it was also necessary to determine what actually has to be changed in the stock. As a general contractor, we have coordinated all operations in the entire renovation phase, we have implemented the new facade in the execution phase, laid soils, installed all electrical systems as well as the alarm system including the monitoring cameras and in addition besides the drywall installation we also were responsible for painting, shop fitting and the complete interior design. The finished shop now appears in glistening white – the corporate Zeiss color.
The rounded seatings and the soft curves of the shelves and furnishings provide an inviting atmosphere to the clean, monochrome room impression, which guide one’s view through the perfectly staged range of glasses: Various eyewear models are presented on minimalist horizontal shelves. They are also kept in neutral white and are backlit by LED strips – mounted in front of an exposed concrete wall: over 150 meters in total.
The futuristic store design indicates the entrance to the next millennium of optometry. The actual expertise, the view analysis, takes place in a transparent glass structure. Again the user-friendliness was the top priority and so the 120 kilogram heavy built-in sliding glass door was installed in such a way that it can now be opened with just one finger. They make eye measurements with the most modern Zeiss measuring instruments here. At this point the store design represents the sales promise: precision and quality of the products paired with innovative technology and first-class service.
